HALF WAY ........Seven (7) weeks done, Seven (7) to go
No, the picture is not me--------------Yet!
But it could be if I decide to go on the 'roids.
The big question is, do they check the guys at the very back?
In fact it would be mind boggling if, at an event with lots of young studs, all(most) finishing well ahead of me, and they asked me to 'pee' into the bottle.
That would be a sign of respect, eh!
That being said, it has been a very good week:
-3 swims (1x1x1 kms), going to increase to a mile at least twice next week.
-3 paddles (1x1x1 hours), probably keep at an hour, but increase intensity level next week.
-3 bike rides (40km at pace, 25km at base) and 20km at race pace....24.8 k/h--plans are to try and get 3 'longer' runs in next week at base , then do speed work the following week.
-AND, contrary to previous plans, I have started a running program.
-This week I got in 4 runs (1.5, 2, 3, and 3 kms). The speed is very slow but I'm glad I decided to 'see' how a run felt ahead of time---If I felt bad after the 1.5 km run, just think what I would have felt like doing the 5km on race day----after the other 3 desciplines. Just hope the knee holds up.
-Bear in mind, with the exception of a couple track work outs 3 years ago for the Geezer Mile and a couple runs 5 years ago before a leg in the Rum Runners, these 4 runs are the only times my feet have touched the road since 1994.
I now feel quite comfortable at 3km and will continue to run a minimum of 3 times a week............................slow!
Now if only this humidity would just let up a little--actually only 62% as I look at the weather channel--Since I already noted a 25km base ride on the spread sheet I should probably go and put the miles in, eh!
Cheers

Brucie,
The stats are getting impressive. Over 25 hrs on the bike, 20 hrs on the water, 5 hours in it and an hour running! Amazing. Simply amazing.
Bruce
Your running daughter Sarah has told me of your adventures...she's a little bit too proud of her heritage I think :)
I'm impressed with your training...you're working like a SunDog...not a SunGod. And, I have to say I like the 8.6 Bavarian tall boys too. Nice choice for hydration
Hey Robb:
Just an old man seeing if he can relive any of the good old days. Hurts good, eh!
Cheers
