Eight (8) weeks down, only Six (6) more left.

Nice tidy week, got the planned milages (with double ups) in with a few highlights, but also a piece of reality.

Starting to look like the idea of running may have been a pipe dream. The knee hasn't really got any better over the years, no daily stresses of training for the past 12 years has just been hiding the reality that it is bone on bone, and there has been no miraculous growth of cartilege.

I did run to Point Pleasant Park and back from TUNS, with a pause at the gates --4 kms, slow. Basic plan to run a bit each week.

As part of bike training, I am doing some off-road (pictured) riding when time to get a road ride in is not available. I find you can get a more intense workout in less time.

That being said, I had the pleasure of riding the back roads of Pictou with The Diesel (Gordon Young) this week as part of a 40km ride. I rode with him the middle 25kms--he hurt me a lot but hey, I rode again! Enjoyed the rest of the night around the campfire with Gordon and Carol (and my Uncle and Aunt)--a few Coronas and conversation.

Also while car camping with the Birder on the Northumberland Strait, I had the opportunity to get in a couple kms swims in the salt water. Light surf. What a pleasure, eh!

Total: 3 rides, 3 paddles, 3 swims, and 2 runs.

Over the next 2 weeks I plan on doing more double ups, some triples, and maybe some time trial bench marks--just to see how slow I really am.
