Two (2) weeks down, twelve (12) to go

Sixty is only a number you know! It's not the end of the world! I can get this done with proper training!

AND

Plenty of rest!

-I'm much more pleased with second week of training, seeming to have a schedule organized in my mind to get a base built up.

-I will paddle/pedal, each 3 times week, on alternate days, giving 1 day off for rest and/or other stuff.

-I will swim 4 times a week, getting my base distance to 1km this coming week. Swimming is less stressful, and time consuming, which I feel I can do on any of the 7 days, whether biking, paddling, or day off.

-Last week, bike (116kms), paddle (2 1/2 hrs), swim (400m, 600m)

-Once I get a base established, and return from a week's hike in the White Mountains on July 16th, I will look toward some longer milage and intensity/interval work.

-Big problem for the next two weeks will be finding time (and enough TV channels) to watch daily:
---Wembledon Tennis (June 26 to July 9)
---The completion of the World Cup (Final on July 9)
---The daily 5 hour dose of the Tour de France (starts July 1st to July 23rd)
-and still get the training milage in. I suppose a fellow could have more serious concerns.

Keep your paddle in the water, bum in the saddle, arms flailing in the surf, and feet on the road, eh!

Cheers

-Contemplating at the camp fire.

-I'm in the middle of my 2nd week of 14 weeks of training. How do 'real', competitive, athletes, with regular jobs, find the time to train? Here I am retired and having trouble getting a structure to my workouts.

-It has been suggested this is all to the good, since I have been 'out of shape' for so long, a gradual base build up may be beneficial to holding off injuries.

-Main question of the day--why would the World Cup schedule games at the same time? I'll have to put 2 TVs in the same room.
